Microsoft Showcase School Education Manager (MEA) visit School

It’s no news that GSS Jabi is a Microsoft Showcase School, what’s news is that the Education Manager for Middle East and Africa (MEA) Mr Mark Chaban made a visit to the School. Despite exams in session, he was received by Mr Atanze Sani the Principal of GSS Jabi on behalf of the teachers and students.

In his address to the teachers, he thanked them for their efforts in using Technology to support pedagogy, but also enjoins them to take advantage of the OneNote tools that come free for easy collaborative leaning, content sharing and ease of access for learners with reading and learning challenges. He encouraged the school administration to incorporate coding using Minecraft in the computer curriculum from Senior Secondary One (SS1).
He took a tour of the school in the company of Senior Teaching staff and other Microsoft Staff that included Jordan Belmonte the Country Manager for Microsoft Education. He had a firsthand view of the classrooms with learners in exam condition, visited the Computer lab, counseling office, school farm (poultry and fish pond) etc.

At the end of his short but insightful visit, Mr Mark Chaban promised to extend Microsoft collaborations with GSS Jabi to include the use of Office 365 in the school; and a number of the support programs in view. The Principal Mr Atanzi Sani expressed his gratitude and promised to support the learners and teachers with all that is needed to improve on the school’s e-learning prowess, encourage Professional Development for teachers using the Microsoft Educator Community and coding as a way of learning for students.
